I challenged them, obviously. Their response was along the lines of 'we can't tell you because it's supersecretsquirrel stuff and you can't know'
Am both on gamstop and have the block on my card.
As far as the bank are concerned, these are schrodinger transactions.
If you challenge the card block then it's not a gambling transaction as its not coded 7995.
If you ask to chargeback it's suddenly a gambling transaction and no hope of a chargeback cos MC says so.
Somewhat akin to repeatedly slamming ones own penis in a bank vault door, only less productive.

You need to complain as well as request a DSAR from them.
I think you need to argue that it cannot be gambling, do you know what these companies are allegedly selling? Find out get some decent evidence and set out the complaint, if the bank won’t help do not mention you have gambled stick to the gamstop/blocks and deny anything with gambling. Go back to my notes around FOS expecting the chargebacks to be raised if they would succeed.
If the bank won’t change the decision/reject complaint then you need to go FOS I find it bizarre they would say this and the DSAR will assist.

Make sure on the DSAR you request the MCC used and any evidence they have that it was gambling.
They cannot deny this information, then the MCC will not gambling and you will have a very strong case with FOS.

My credit card company declined my chargebacks because I mentioned gambling.
I took it to the FOS who have also declined it so I give in.
I wish I had gone down the road of goods not received but I was been honest and that gets you no where.

They must think by coming on here no one will try chargebacks, my credit card was cancelled because of the gambling not charging back I know this as when I called they said you are in breach of the terms by gambling. CIFAS although possible are rare and if you have got one the evidence submitted for the chargeback must be poor.

For anyone interested - I have successfully overturned a complaint at Barclaycard. Rejected complaint, reopened from them previous emails all shared on here, compensation for mishandling of complaint and disputes now raised.
The emails are all on the forum, however I have 50 attachments and further emails to them, I am more than happy to share with anyone for free but I cannot add them on here due to size etc
