July 7th 2024 at Novibet, I placed a Live Tennis Bet for the amount of CAD 2196$ (approximatively 1458€)

ATP Challenger of Trieste, Italy - Mats Hermans to win against Raul Brancaccio

Odds of 2.50 (+150)

(The odds were 9.00 / +800 at the beginning).

Potential winnings : CAD 5490$ (approximatively 3645€).

Mats Hermans won the first set 6-4.

He was also winning the second set 2-1, when Raul Brancaccio retired.

Novibet decided to void the bet and refund the initial bet amount.

Should they have instead refunded me the amount of cashout offered at that time? It was over 3000$ (2000€).

Otherwise, should they have settled the bet as winner because when Brancaccio retired, my player was leading comfortably the game, so the issue was determined at the moment of the retirement?

I made an internal complaint to their operator LogFlex MT Limited. They answered that it’s the rules and that the bet is voided correctly as per the terms and conditions.

I am a very active player in their platform, I deposit a minimum of 2000$ per month. I asked them to show their good will and compensate with a Sports Free Bet. They never accepted, even if they made a lot of profit with me.

After, I filled a complaint to eCOGRA. They took a lot of time to study the case and they protected the operator quite a bit, without empathy for the customer. They're supposed to be neutral, but they didn't give me that impression at all. I also asked them to show their good will and recommend Novibet to issue a compensation, but they ignored me.

Would things change if I made a complaint here on Casino Guru? Or you think I have other recourses or are my hopes nil?

I would say that we would not be able to help in such a case, as we are not involved in sports betting. So unfortunately if you are interested I can post links where they might be able to help you.

However, I also bet occasionally and in my opinion, it could be that the casino made a good decision. Have you looked at the Terms and Conditions as they are listed ? Usually when a match is not finished, bets are given back. It doesn't have to be like that everywhere, but most of the time it is. So try to see how they define it in the Terms and Conditions when they are invoked.

They say that I was not eligible because it’s a Live Bet.

Also, I certainly looked at their terms and conditions. It’s indeed mentioned that a bet is voided if a tennis player retire. A bet will be won only if the issue was determined at the time of retirement. I'm trying to emphasize this sentence. My player was leading comfortably the match at the time of the retirement.

Novibet is an awesome platform. They proceed my withdrawals in 2 to 10 minutes and they have a lot of promos.

But this rule and this bad will are ruining everything

I know that some bookmakers have a bet that if a player makes a scratch (retirement) and you bet that even if it happens and your player is winning, you will win the full amount. But as I said, not everywhere is like that and not everywhere is such a possibility.

According to the sentence you mention "A bet will be won only if the issue was determined at the time of retirement." this seems to me like the case where a player would not even enter the match and would give up without a fight. Because the phrase "at the time of retirement" probably can't be in the match, because you don't know in advance if for example a player gets injured or something happens that prevents him from finishing the match. But as I say this is just my view on it from my experience. 

So you are not to blame at all and I and you have not lost any time. It's good that you asked. I hope that you will do well and that more will come your way. 🙂

I think that's the best thing to do.

Looking at it from a casino's perspective, being a live bet, I can understand why your bet would be void. Imagine the player suffers a slight injury early in the game, shakes it off, then continues. You may potentially know that he/she has had previous injuries to the same body part and proceed to place a bet thinking that they may not make it all the way through the match. Sure enough, they are unable to finish.

Do you think you should get paid in that scenario?

Do not ever register or put your money on Novibet its the most rigged casino I ever saw in my whole life , IF you try to play poker then you gonna be facing BOTS that can win double ace with 2-9 , they are doing all in on sh*tty hands like 2-9 etc and still they can win any real good hand , not a player in this whole life would go all in pre-flop with bad hand (2-9) and no player wouldn't follow with two aces.
