I've been following the huge growth of prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it got me wondering how many regular sportsbook users actually tried them instead of betting with the likes of Bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel or Caesars Sportsbook.
If you did, what was your experience?
Did you prefer the trading-style approach, or did you end up going back to your usual bookmaker?
Were the odds better, was it easier to use, and do you think prediction markets are a genuine alternative to traditional sportsbooks or just something different?
I'm also curious about the UK.
At the moment, prediction markets haven't really become mainstream here in the way they have in the US.
Does anyone know if companies like Kalshi or Polymarket have plans to launch in the UK, or if there are regulatory barriers that would prevent them?
If they do eventually arrive, when do you think that could realistically happen?
It feels like prediction markets could become one of the biggest disruptions to sports betting in years, so I'd be interested to hear from anyone who actually used one during the World Cup.
